Cardmaker of the year 2016

Good morning lovelies

Today is a very special day. After what seemed like forever I can finally reveal the secret I have kept for more than 2 months...

Last year I decided to do something different. After noticing the competition in 2015 the idea started growing. I thought I might just give it a go...So in 2016 I entered Australian Simply Cards Magazine's Cardmaker of the Year.

I was so worried that my cards won't get there in time and was rushing to get the instructions done. So I thought oh well I tried and left it at that.

Then one afternoon before I went on leave I got a call... It was Tracey Orchard, Editor of Australian Simply Cards Magazine. I could  hardly believe it. She told me I won... "What really?" I stumbled upon my words and I may have asked her if it was for real. I may even have asked her to promise me that it's not a joke. I have been totally overwhelmed. So many amazing cardmakers enter each year. I look at their cards and am amazed by their skills with markers and intrigued folds. Really, what chance did I have?

All I can say is thank you to Practicalpublishing http://www.practicalpublishing.com.au/   from the bottom of my heart and thank you for trusting me to work with you this year. Thank you also for the sponsors Arnold's Scrapbook and Craft Store, and Art Deco Creations and Chameleon for a very generous prize pack worth $2500. I am super stoked.

Thank you also to Heather McMahon who supported and encouraged me to do more tags and cards when I first started. Sandra Wallace,  Beck Beatie and Michelle Grant for giving me opportunities to create for them and Vicki for asking me to teach at Scrap Matrix. Thank you believing in me from the very start and before I got on any other DT's. Thank you to my family and friends and their unwavering support. Love you guys. And last but not least Tim for all his inspiration techniques and 12 Tags of the year tutorials. He might not be aware but if it wasn't for the 12 Tag tutorials I may have never thought of myself as a cardmaker.

To see my entries and read more about my journey, you will have to make sure you get your copy of Australian Simply Cards Magazine Issue 104 on sale on the 16th of March. A few lucky subscribers have already received theirs :)

So with this news I leave you today till next time.

Hello dear friends

I'm back as promised and this time I am sharing the new More than Words Challenge. Gosh you cannot help but to be inspired by this challenge. The task is to use the word Beautiful as inspiration and to include a butterfly on your layout. Easy right? I mean who does not like butterflies?

I was inspired by gorgeous flowers. When I was in South Africa in January we drove from my hometown to the city so I could catch the plane back to Australia. As we were driving I saw all these sunflowers just growing wild all along the road. They were simply gorgeous. I just wanted to stop but we didn't.

At the same time I also had a photo shoot booked with 2 of my best friends. ( You know how you always just snap a photo b4 saying goodbye and then it never looks good...? do you?) Well before I visited I decided that this time will be different. We will take professional photos so we can have captured memories of our beautiful and long lasting fiendship.

Seeing all these flowers along the road,  I decided that our photo shoot will include sunflowers. While we weat the florist I also found this big bright bunch with roses lillies and daisies. Super bright in orange red yellow and purple. Definitely not my usual colours, but ooh so pretty. I just had to buy this too. It made me so happy. So we had to use them as well. We all layed down with our heads amongst the flowers tbough it was dominated by the beautiful big suflowers.

I hoped you liked this post and appreciate you stopping by today.

Kraft + March 2017 Challenge

Good morning lovelies

It is the first of March. Yikes time sire flies when you ate having fun. I'm going on an overseas trip in 3 weeks and am sooo not ready. It felt so far away... eek

First things first though, and yes as always the start of the month means an array of new exciting challenges for you to join. Yeah... excited? You are going to love March my friends I only did 2 so far and both have been super duper fun.

So this month in Kraft + we ask you to use kraft + Denim. I am a demin kinda girl and it's so trendy right now. Seriously I love my jeans and I don't think it can ever go out of fashion. Do you agree?

So here's my take on it:

I was inspired by my gorgeous cousin in her denim jacket. Somehow this photo was just perfect for the job. I love the fact that it makes I contact and reaveals part of that vibrant attitude and personality.

I used the leg of an old pair of jeans. I loved the strong seam lines and decided to use it as a photomat on on my painted background. It just happened to fall perfectly and I loved the folds it made so I stapeled it too my page. ( Well that's not all I stapeled last night... I had to detach my messy mat afterwards LOL 😜😂..)

I also found a strange love for tulle of late so obviously I had to include that and a couple of flowers to finish it off.

I hope you enjoyed this post with me and can't wait to see what you come up with. Also visit the blog for more inspiration by my uber talented design team buddies.
