More than Words August Main Challenge & 7Dots

Hello dear friends

It's the 1st of August and time for a gorgeous new challenge at More than Words Challenge.

This month we ask that you add song lyrics to your layout and be inspired by the word Harmony.

I was inspired by my current favourite song, Something like this by Coldplay and the Chainsmokers. In the song it's described how the guy don't think he fits the criteria of the heros like Superman, Batman or Hercules but she tells him she needs no hero, she just need someone to turn to and someone she could kiss. There is something real special about having that person in your life and  living in harmony for many years. As in any good composition it's granted that the tune needs adjusting at times but all in all it's about working together, being there for another  and celebrating true love. All I can do is to say can thank you for this wonderful privilege I have been granted. It's been 17 years since we meet for the first time and in February we will have been married for 14 of  those years.

Follow this link for more info to play along.

It was then that I realised this layout is the perfect match for the current challenge at #7Dotsstudio.

The challenge at 7Dotsstudio requires everyone to create a project about their hero and or favourite person :)

Thank you so much for visiting today. I hope you enjoyed your visit and will come say hello again sometime.

Till nexttime have fun and make sure you join in both of these challenges.

Scrap FX reveal using 13@rts

Hello dear friends

I hope you have all been well and having fun creating.

I'm quickly popping in for a mid-month post  to share 2 of the projects for my Scrap reveal yesterday. If you like what you see, pop over to the blog by following this link http://www.scrapfx.com.au/blog/?p=24094 for step by step guidelines on how I created them.

So this month I have been really inspired by the main challenge at 13@rts. The challenge is to create your own background. If you know my work, you'd know I absolutely love using plain watercolor paper and create my own backgrounds, so it really was the perfect challenge for me.

For the ATC's I covered  an entire scrap piece of  paper using the 13@rts Pastel and Chalk spray's.

I then added some bling texture paste and stamped it with black Archival ink.

In the case of the layout, I used a paint brush to add splotches of pastel spray to the right side of my paper, drying in between layers.

In this background I used a fine script stamp and white molding paste with a gorgeous 13@rts stencil.

As in many of my creations, I could not do without tulle and flowers and journaling strips, so they got added as well.

Well that's all from me today.

I hope you enjoyed it. Please don't forget to leave us some comment when you pop over to Scrap FX. We would love to hear what you think.

Till next time

Kraft Plus July Challenge

Hello lovelies

Happy July first. It's Territory day here in the top end and everyone in town is watching, buying and letting of fireworks. We are in for a wild night, let me tell you.

It's also time to share some beautiful new challenge and this time I would like to share my take on the Kraft Plus Challenge.

I was inspired by this challenge from the word go. I wanted roses lots of them.

I started off adding texture paste to my layout. Once this was dry I added bits of the gorgeous dry root by 13@rts to frame my photo.

I had no idea which photo to use, all I knew was that I want a photo of us.  After much consideration, a couple of tries as well as inspiration from my fellow by team mates I found this old wedding photo of me and my hubby. It was ideal for the purpose and suited a very tricky colour combo at least for me. 😉

To play along we need you to create a Kraft project using roses in 3 different ways.

I used a stencil, die cut flowers, a Funky Flair Studio flair, paper flowers and die-cut roses.

If you want to join in follow the link below. The DT has some awesome creatiins to share so make sure you pop by.

I hope you had fun reading this and will join us this month. Come on and have fun, even if you are not the flower kinda girl... It has been about 4 years since I declared that I dont know, can't and don't have photos for flowers... Uhmm yeah that was me and see now...I hardly do anything without them. Never say never I tell you.

Till next minth, have fun.

More than Words Challenge July

Hello everyone

Welcome back to a whole new month filled with new challenges to play along with. We are in the second half of the year and for those with kids, it's June/July holidays.

Suited to this time of year, our challenge at More than Words are all about Exploring and Arrows.

Here's my take on it:

I found some mojo sitting on a yacht my hubby was interested to buy. We have been speaking of sailing the world sice we met and maybe one day this dream will come true. It was not this day but sitting there in the docks reminded me of the dream to explore new places and going where  I have never been before. I dream of discovering hidden treasures and less traveled roads. These treasures are not the kind you may think of. It includes no gold or gems but the people, frienships and new experiences we hope to come across on our way. I have traveled a fair bit yet those are amongst the things that inspire me to do it over and over again.

To play along we need you to create a layout or canvas thats inspired by the word Explore. Our creative challenge for this task is to use arrows so come and join us. Here's the link gor the blog and more inspiration by my fellow DT members.

I can't wait to see what you create so have fun.

Thursday, 1 June 2017

Hello lovelies

It's the first of June and I am back to share  some brand new challenges for you to play along with.

First up is my take on the awesome Main Challenge at More than Words.

This month our inspiration word is "FATHER" & our creative challenge is "STEAMPUNK"including  cogs, moustaches, top hats & more.

I was inspired by this photo of my dad and I.
I have loved Steampunk, since the moment I discovered mixed media and am a sucker for any clocks, gears, cogs, light bulbs or metal. Yet I wanted to include flowers and a little softness. You see, my dad has a way of noticing the small details.  I remember him calling me over to show me little flowers or critters in the garden and those small things that easily go you by if you don’t pay attention. He is a part-time minister and only started following this career path when he was much older, in fact I was in my senior high school years when he commenced his studies. This layout reminded me how we should dream big and follow those dreams. When I am worried about something he always tells me not to worry, because he is praying for me This layout  is really personal as it reminded me of all those special memories we share. Thanks dad, I love you and though we don’t talk much, I really appreciate what you do for me.".

Here are some close ups:

I hope you like our new challenge and that you will be inspired to play along. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.
Till next time have fun xxx

More than Words Mat Challenge

Hello dear friends

I am back sharing another new challenge for the month of May. As we all know May is tge month we say thank you to all the amazing moms out there and just show them how much we appreciate them.

This is exactly what we attempted at More than Words this month. Our challenge is to use the word mother as inspiration and flowers as the creative challenge to create a canvas or layout.

This layout is a tribute to my amazing mum. I was inspired by her love for not only purple but also gardening and flowers.

To create this I used 7Dots Paper and a background using Colour Paste from Colour Blast Australia and Gold Finnabair Prima Marketing Acrylic Paint.

I fussy cut all the flowers from Sopeso Transparante and heated them to handform a three dimensional effect.

In addition to these gorgeoys flowers I used chipboard frim Scrap Fx and and Tim Holtz dies. No layout is complete without the journaling so as always I included some of these funky words strips and stickers from Flutterby Designs.

Please check out the inspiration by the rest of the team and be sure to join us this time

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Till next time have fun xxx

Kraft Plus May

Good morning lovelies

Wow what do you know, it's the first of May and to make it even better we have a public holiday here to celebrate it.

I have missed April as I have been lucky enough to be on Holidays in Japan. What a wonderful time we had but I will tell you all about that in another post.

Today I'd like to share my take on our brand new challenge at Kraft Plus. This month the challenge is to create something that is out of the box. So no traditional square photos or if you make cards no square ones.

I chose to cut my photos in circles, but not only that I wanted to cut parts of the whole image to enhance the idea of looking at things from another perspective. To emphasize this message I cut 3 square mats for my photos to visually make tge circles pop outside the squares.

Are you inspired yet? Check out the awesome ideas by the rest of the DT girls by folloeing this link http://kraftpluschallenges.blogspot.com.au/?m=1

I can't wait to see what you create so please come and play along with us this time.

Happy krafting xxx

Cardmaker of the year 2016

Good morning lovelies

Today is a very special day. After what seemed like forever I can finally reveal the secret I have kept for more than 2 months...

Last year I decided to do something different. After noticing the competition in 2015 the idea started growing. I thought I might just give it a go...So in 2016 I entered Australian Simply Cards Magazine's Cardmaker of the Year.

I was so worried that my cards won't get there in time and was rushing to get the instructions done. So I thought oh well I tried and left it at that.

Then one afternoon before I went on leave I got a call... It was Tracey Orchard, Editor of Australian Simply Cards Magazine. I could  hardly believe it. She told me I won... "What really?" I stumbled upon my words and I may have asked her if it was for real. I may even have asked her to promise me that it's not a joke. I have been totally overwhelmed. So many amazing cardmakers enter each year. I look at their cards and am amazed by their skills with markers and intrigued folds. Really, what chance did I have?

All I can say is thank you to Practicalpublishing http://www.practicalpublishing.com.au/   from the bottom of my heart and thank you for trusting me to work with you this year. Thank you also for the sponsors Arnold's Scrapbook and Craft Store, and Art Deco Creations and Chameleon for a very generous prize pack worth $2500. I am super stoked.

Thank you also to Heather McMahon who supported and encouraged me to do more tags and cards when I first started. Sandra Wallace,  Beck Beatie and Michelle Grant for giving me opportunities to create for them and Vicki for asking me to teach at Scrap Matrix. Thank you believing in me from the very start and before I got on any other DT's. Thank you to my family and friends and their unwavering support. Love you guys. And last but not least Tim for all his inspiration techniques and 12 Tags of the year tutorials. He might not be aware but if it wasn't for the 12 Tag tutorials I may have never thought of myself as a cardmaker.

To see my entries and read more about my journey, you will have to make sure you get your copy of Australian Simply Cards Magazine Issue 104 on sale on the 16th of March. A few lucky subscribers have already received theirs :)

So with this news I leave you today till next time.
